‘Sábados Felices’ – 36 years and going

Sábados Felices (Happy Saturdays) is a variety show from Colombia, produced by Caracol Televisión. It recently had its 36th year on air and has been running since 1972.

On Sábados Felices laughter is the principal ingredient. The parodies, the jokes and the immitations have made it one of the most popular and longest-running shows in Colombia.

In 1972, it launched under the name ‘Operación Ja-Ja’ but a few years later, in 1976, with the help of the Colombian gov’t, it was rescheduled for Saturdays and thus took on its current name. As of 1977, the show has also done a lot for charity with a campaign called “Lleva una escuelita en tu corazón” which periodically takes the show on the road throughout Colombia and raises money for building schools.
