According to Colombia Reports, tourism to Colombia between last year and this year and based on a four month period, have increased by 11%.
“42,876 more tourists visited Colombia in the first four months of this year than in the same period last year. The amounts to a 11 percent increase in tourists visiting the country.
The Ministry for Commerce, Industry and Tourism announced that 425,082 tourists arrived in Colombia between January and May compared to 382,206 the previous year, portafolio.com.co reported.”
I’m divided on the issue. For Colombia, it is great news as more people will have a chance to see Colombia’s ‘cool factor’, although on the other hand, part of what makes the country cool is that it feels undiscovered by the rest of the world. If you don’t know what I mean, I suggest my other post. Aside from my personal wishes for the country to stay as it is in some respects, there are important questions that need to be asked.
